Tarri Driver: artist, author, illustrator

Through my art, I hope to make some sense of the world, bring joy and beauty and inspire reflection. As an undergraduate, I studied fine arts and psychology. I then earned a master's degree in education and worked as a board-certified, registered art therapist and licensed counselor with children and teens in a large public school system and a children's hospital. Leaving the art therapy field after a decade, I have been making art full-time ever since. I’m inspired by what’s around me: the forest, the mountains, my garden and the critters. Thank you for your interest and for being a thoughtful viewer.

Lunar Mooner Lula: origins

What began as a high school nickname ultimately evolved into a children’s book character. Lula has been through several iterations over the years. Visually, she was inspired by 1950s children’s books. You can view the very first versions of Lula in my Archives (scroll waaaaay down towards the bottom). Her look became more her own (red bows, pigtails, boots) during my silkscreen classes in undergrad. Throughout my late teens and 20s, I drew single-frame Lula cartoons oriented towards adults. She was a vehicle for expressing my frustrations and for working out emotional kinks. Ironically, as I became older, Lula became younger. Now, she is an expression of my inner child.
